Dr. Nadine Regis is a Haitian-American Emergency Medicine physician currently working in Columbus, Georgia in the United States. Born and raised in Rockland County , New York, Dr. Regis knew from an early age that service to others, steadfast diligence and a commitment to excellence were pillars upon which, one could build a successful life and career. The earliest part of Dr. Regis’s schooling began at the St. Joseph School, a small Catholic primary school. Dr. Regis completed her secondary education at Suffern High School, where she excelled in her Biology and Chemistry courses. Upon graduating high school, she pursued her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Manhattan College in Bronx County, New York. There she thrived, graduating with the highest honors, receiving the Manhattan College Presidential Award, and obtaining recognition for published research in the area of molecular genetics biology. Dr. Regis went on to attend Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to pursue her long time desire to enter the medical field. Dr. Regis’s time in North Philadelphia cultivated her passion to serve low income and disenfranchised communities and solidified her resolve to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine.
After graduating medical school, Dr. Regis returned to New York to commence her four year residency training at Jacobi Medical Center, at the time one of the top emergency medicine training programs in the country. During this time, in addition to the valuable knowledge she was gaining in her rigorous residency program, Dr. Regis’s life was further enriched by her marriage to her husband Fritz Joseph and the birth of their daughter Laila, who is now four years old. Dr. Regis and her family ultimately relocated to Columbus, Georgia where they currently reside. There she is currently an Attending physician at the Regional Medical Center and a Director at Warm Springs Medical Center.
Dr. Regis's path has brought her to this point. She is dedicated to use the tools she has acquired along the way to remove the barriers to comprehensive emergent care individuals may face due to socio-economic status or geographic location. Dr. Regis first fell in love with West Africa on a Medical teaching trip to Liberia and visit to Ghana. There her passion to use her training to improve the lives of others found a new place to flourish. It is a connection she hopes to reinforce through continued visits and participation in medical programs. This Summer, as a participant in the Global Infectious Diseases Initiative, Inc., Dr. Regis will take her first trip to Nigeria with her tools at hand: her training, her experiences, her passion, and one of her favorite quotes by Desmond Tutu, "Do your little bit of good where you are; it's those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world".
