Dr. Yinka Olaniyan, is a gynaecologic Oncologist. He is currently MD/CEO of Green Acres Hospital & Gynaecare Clinic in Abuja. He is also visiting consultant to National Hospital Abuja.
Dr. Olaniyan, received his basic medical degree from the University of Lagos in 1983 and obtained the post graduate fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) in 1998. His research interests focus on identifying the determinants in the aetiology of cervical cancer and development of its screening modalities.
His recent efforts include CADRE - Capacity Development for Research into AIDS Associated malignancies, a collaboration of Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN) and the University of Baltimore, which investigated, screened and treated HIV infected women for cervical cancer. He is also part of the African Collaborative Centre for Microbiome & Genomics Research (ACCME), an arm of the Human Heredity and Health in Africa (H3Africa) consortium, which aims to facilitate a contemporary research approach to the study of genomics and environmental determinants of common diseases with the goal of improving the health of African populations. He served as a coordinator for the National Cervical Cancer Screening Program from 2010 – 2017 and was also Project Consultant to the Nigerian Air Force Cancer Screening Service. He is currently the President of Nigerian Society for Colposcopy & Cervical Pathology – NSCCP.
Dr. Olaniyan holds a Diploma of the National Cancer Institute and is also a fellow of the Union of International Cancer Control. He has received an award from American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) for his contribution to cancer education and his leadership role in the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC).
Dr. Olaniyan is a keen photographer, Jazz saxophonist and a grandfather.
